Why Specialize In "Just" Riflestocks?

Did the idea of building a custom rifle ever cross your mind? You knew what caliber and action you wanted and if you had any other questions about your barreled action your local gunsmith could help you, but when the question of the riflestock came up, your gunsmith probably said something like, "oh, you can do that yourself." Well, you can do it yourself; however, if you don't know the difference between right and wrong and / or are looking for perfection or the next thing to it in stock work or stockmaking, you will not achieve it with your first project.

By the time I reached the age of 23 or 24, my collection consisted of half a dozen rifles. I would look at and study one of these rifles for hours at a time. I noticed the bellys in the stocks and forearms, the butts not being properly shaped and the barrel channels being too wide on one side and touching on the other, realizing what I had was just handles to hold my barreled actions.

Most gunsmiths specialize in gun repairs and don't want to be bothered with making stocks or doing stock work. The gun industry is so complex today that one has to specialize, rather than be a jack of all trades and a master of none, I picked stockmaking.

In order to have a near perfect finished product, many hours will have to be put into your stock. Our company takes pride in detail. We do not make handles....we make riflestocks.
